1-to-1 learning refers to each student having his or her own laptop for use in the classroom full time, and potentially for home use as well.
The Pollard Study Group is a group of Pollard teachers and administrators that is investigating the potential of piloting a 1-to-1 laptop learning initiative at Pollard. Over the course of the 2007 and 2008 school year we will be conducting an in-depth exploration of the central questions and issues of laptop initiatives and conclude by making a recommendation to the District based on our findings.
Our study will include investigation of the following questions and topics:
• What does a 1:1 laptop environment look like?
• Why is it important?
• Does a 1:1 initiative mesh with our district, school and technology vision, mission and goals?
• How do you plan for a successful program?
• What does professional development look like?
• The implementation and logistics of a successful 1:1 program.
• What does the teaching and learning environment look like and how does it work?

Do they do this in learning center at
Pollard?
In "1to1 Learning", it's reported that the magic numbers for the laptops are 1to1 and 24/7 - why is that? Will having access all the time make the laptops seem less of a "toy" and more of a "tool"?
